The Honeysuckle blossom is the official flower of the Sandy Springs Garden Club. Hall's Honeysuckle bears sweetly scented white flowers that age to yellow on a rampant spreading vine with dark green leaves.
National Garden Clubs, Inc., and Susan G. Komen for the Cure announce Plant It Pink, an initiative designed to support the mission to save lives and end breast cancer forever. The bird house project supports NGC garden therapy programs that introduce horticultural therapy into various health care settings, as well as SGK.
The Dogwood District garden clubs are being challenged to match a $2,000 grant from the NGC Natural Disaster Fund given for the future preservation of Atlanta's Historic Oakland Cemetery. The district also schedules garden club workdays at the cemetery. Member clubs work together to help to repair damage done by recent storms.
GEORGIA! Keep It Green and Clean anti-litter campaign's second phase was the production of a youth environmental education video with an anti-litter message that targets 8-10 year olds. Its purpose is to make students aware of litter and its consequences. The video has been distributed to every public, private and military elementary school in the state at no cost to the school systems.
The Fulton Federation of Garden Clubs is a council that presents programs by master garderners, flower arrangers, and other plant experts for the benefit of its member garden clubs.
The DeKalb County Federation of Garden Clubs is a council of 41 garden clubs that worksto unite clubs, to give strength to community projects, and to educate members and the public in gardening, horticulture, conservation, garden therapy, historic preservation, environmental awareness.
