A dozen members of the garden club (and an intrepid spouse - Bruce Levitt!) traveled to Dawsonville on June 7 to Jungle Paradise Daylily Farm. Owner Suzanne Franklin gave us a very informative talk and tour of the property. We learned much about the hybridization of daylilies, and enjoyed our picnic lunches in a pavilion overlooking mass plantings of daylilies. We departed with our cars filled with daylilies and happy memories.
The Sandy Springs Garden Club participated in the Olmsted Plein Air Artists Festival on April 28, 2018. Minnie Bob Campbell and Emily Levitt created a tabletop tableaux in a judged competition. The theme was "Vineyards, Wine and Romance." Our entry received a second place award earning 93 out of 100 points. The tabletop tableaux were available for the artists to paint and many artists enjoyed painting the SSGC tableaux.

The Sandy Springs Garden Club kicked off Garden Week in Georgia by participating in a "Grow the Garden" party at Sandy Springs Place Memory Care on April 14. Susan Frenzel, Mary Clare Kearse, Maidee Spencer and Terry Waith helped residents plant a selection of annuals and herbs in raised planting beds at the facility. Members and residents alike enjoyed the Garden Week activity.
